EarthAR

EarthAR was my master's degree project. It is an augmented reality application for room-scale education and exploration of Earth on mobile devices. The target userbase for the app is elementary school geography teachers and students. In Earth AR, the teacher can choose a location in the classroom to spawn a model of Earth, which will then appear in augmented reality on the mobile devices of each of the students. Students are free to move around and explore the various features of the Earth’s surface and interior. The teacher has special permissions and can make use of controls, namely rotation, pin dropping, and the continent boundaries layer, in order to enhance the interactive learning experience.

Students collaboratively explore the Earth while the teacher (who took the screenshot) places pins and activates the continents boundary layer.
